Today, Orrin Ingram (owner of Ingram Angus) acquired Coleman Angus from Larry and Dee Coleman. The move brings together two like-minded cattle operations and ensures their collective strength going forward.
Both Coleman Angus and Ingram Angus will continue to operate independently, including each continuing to hold their regular bull and female sales in Montana and Tennessee. Ingram Angus will continue to be run by Jason Upchurch and David Cagle while long-time employees Jeremy and Jenny Haag will take over day-to-day operations at Coleman Angus. Additionally, Erica Coleman will take reins as Coleman marketing manager, continuing direct Coleman family involvement moving forward.
“While both programs have been built on the strength of the Angus cow, the foundation of our success has always been the relationships we have with our customers,” said Coleman Angus Owners Larry and Dee Coleman. “As we move forward, our commitment to the customer remains unchanged. They can continue to expect the same trusted service, knowledgeable support, and dedication that have defined both programs. The Coleman Angus and Ingram Angus programs will continue to stand behind the quality and integrity of its product, ensuring our customers can move forward with confidence knowing we remain focused on delivering the value and service you deserve. Today, we move forward as one team, bringing together the strengths, experience, and shared values of both programs with a singular focus on serving our customers.”
The leadership of each ranch will help support and advise the development of the other, but the ranches will continue to operate separately. This will help ensure customers still receive the same industry-leading services and the deep commitment to delivering the quality Angus seedstock they have come to expect from Ingram and Coleman respectively.
“We’ve been buying Coleman genetics for over 10 years because, in my opinion, they had the best genetics for the cow herd I wanted to build,” said Ingram Angus Owner Orrin Ingram. “They have a terrific operation that very much shares our vision and commitment to raising the best Angus genetics alongside great customer service. When this opportunity arose, I jumped at the chance knowing the advantages of putting together two great programs. Our value proposition is two herds, one team and greater opportunity for our customers.”
The Colemans continued, “From day one, our philosophy was simple: build around the mama cow. When we set out to establish our herd, our goal was to find the very best females we could. It was to build the kind of cow herd that would serve cattlemen for generations. Every decision was made with those hardworking commercial cattlemen in mind. They have been the backbone of this program from the very beginning, and their trust and support are the reason we’ve come this far. As we look to the future, that commitment remains as strong as ever, and they will continue to shape the direction of this program for years to come.“
A family-run operation, Coleman Angus was founded in 1996 in Montana when Larry and his wife Dee started buying their first Angus females, which are the base of the Coleman Angus Ranch cowherd today.
Ingram Angus was established in 2016 with ranches in Pulaski and Wartrace, Tennessee. The Ingram brand is one of the most respected purebred Angus operations in the United States, building a herd of registered Angus cattle that is second to none, with a focus on excellence in performance, carcass traits, and maternal ability.
